A few weeks ago, I read some of the best movie news that I had in a long time: Wes Anderson (The Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Limited), who has been my favorite filmmaker for years now, is moving forward with his next film, titled Moon Rise Kingdom.
The film, which will be shot in spring 2011, is set in 1960s New England and follows two young people who fall in love and run away.
While this premise alone sounds great, Anderson has already chosen a more than promising cast, including Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton and Tilda Swinton.
Anderson usually takes a while to start new projects (Armond White wrote an interesting article about this in 2006), but once he gets production rolling, it doesn’t take him too long, which means the film could be released by the end of next year.
I simply can’t wait. Now, maybe we can get that other Anderson director (PT) to get moving on his next project.
